Once upon a time, Nokia was the largest cell phone manufacturer in the world, commanding a 48.7% market share in 3rd quarter 2007 of all phones sold. Their "flagship" plant was located in Salo, Finland, employing 5,000 people. As we all know, Microsoft purchased the hand held business from Nokia and eventually closed the Salo plant in 2015.
After the departure of its largest employer what does a small town of 53,000 people do? Salo chose to step up and look to the future. Welcome, the Salo IoT Campus.
