Finally we got some relief from the heat, at least in Japan, due to the rain from the oncoming typhoon no. 13 (Shanshan). The rain will most likely get heavy later in the day, so instead of hoping that you stay cool, stay dry!

We have about 10 slots left for our traditional Yakatabune (river boat) Cruise on Friday, 31 August. As we are going to be "sold-out", if you plan to participate and have not signed up yet, do so soonest. More information below!

The registrations for the 16th Mercedes-Benz - Cole Haan Cup, played on Friday, 5 October in ongoing and we have already more than 130 players signed up for the event. The European team is almost fully booked, we take less than five more before we start making waiting list. Event details below.

Staying in Karuizawa and avoiding most of the typhoon on this occasion, our "Aoyama View" columnist has made a new contribution. This time titled "Petty politicians, bungling bureaucrats and profitable business".
