The White House Releases Proclamation on Opening of Borders
The White House has officially released a proclamation detailing the opening of the U.S. borders to foreign travelers with flight restrictions being lifted for the first time since November 2020. The new entry requirements will allow travelers from many countries including the Schengen region to enter given that they are fully vaccinated. In fact, the new rules focus more on vaccination status than country of origin. Finnish Tech Startups Tackle Mental Health
Five Finnish tech startups that have been tackling mental health concerns have seen successful in Finland and abroad. Meru Health, CupOfTherapy, Auntie, Neurosonic, and Medified Solutions all offer mobile solutions to support mental health and wellbeing. Meru Health, which offers a clinically-proven treatment option through the digital platform for depression, anxiety, and burnout, and CupOfTherapy, which aims to bring visibility to mental health issues through illustrations, have been very successful in the U.S. Read more here about these innovative startups!
Finnish Venture Capitalists Invest Abroad
A new trend seems to be emerging with Finnish venture capital investors increasingly investing in companies outside of Finland. Out of all the investments made by Finnish VC investors between 2013 to 2021, 184 investments were made in foreign startups spread over 21 different countries. Out of these investments, 29 were made in U.S. companies. This trend seems to have increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Pia Santavirta, the Managing Director of FVCA, "internationalisation is a prerequisite for our financial ecosystem to remain competitive and keep evolving."
