Finnish-Lithuania Business Association: Summer Greetings

Dear SULI members,

Linksmų ir saulėtų Šv. Joninių! Hyvää juhannusta!

Mid-summer is here and the amount of light is overwhelming. The nature is at its best. For Finns, this period of the year is a very short, magical and almost a holy moment. I think the English term “Summer Solstice” and visioning druids dancing around Stonehenge will get closest to the spirit of this period in Finland.

In Lithuania Šv. Joninės (St. John,  "Jussi" nicknamed in Finland) is also celebrated but further South in Europe it is hardly recognized. Believe this relates to the clear seasonality of climate and light in any country. In the North it is more special. Amidst all the odds of this world, mid-summer traditions are offering a short break of the treadmill to enjoy the nature, sauna, food and the best company.

Wishing all readers a Happy Summer!
